ANT 2033: Introduction to Physical Anthropology
This class introduces the many subfields of the discipline of physical anthropology. We will consider the intellectual approaches and methods used by anthropologists to study the biological evolution of the human species. In particular, this course will cover the basic scientific principles of genetics and evolution, explore primate and human evolution through an examination of the fossil record, and discuss variability in modern human populations. After participating in this course, students will have an appreciation of key theoretical and methodological issues in this exciting anthropological subdiscipline, and will be prepared to enter upper-level courses in biological anthropology.
